Moonwalking on the Grave

No celebrity has spent more time under scrutiny then Michael Jackson. From being pushed to great musical limits at a young age by his father Joe Jackson, and gaining world-wide recognition as a child with the Jackson 5, to then moonwalk his way to becoming the King of Pop, only to spend his last years facing child molestation charges, and finally come just shy of a huge comeback tour. Even in death the public eye could not give him a moments rest as Jackson set the trend of online social media reporting as rumors of his death poured out online before news coverage. His body had to be life flighted out to avoid massive traffic jams and public outbreak. Then post death we get the crazy trail of Michael Jackson’s personal physician Conrad Murry for involuntary manslaughter. In typical Jackson form the trail is all over news stations and the pages of tabloids. Now ten years after his death, and fourteen years since being acquitted of child molestation, some two-bit director has decided to cash in with HBO with the new mocumentary “Leaving Neverland” which features a bunch of useless drone shots, the same nanny that was disproven in court in 2005, and two former associates of Jackson’s whose stories are forever changing. Despite what this documentary may claim, I believe Michael Jackson to be an innocent man.

The media here in the United States has had a frenzy with this story of a new Michael Jackson child molesting documentary, they began regurgitating the same old wild accusations and already disproven lies from 1993 and 2005. The media in the UK however questioned the film, so much so the UK’s version has over an hour less runtime then the US version. A decision made after much of the film had been discredited by Jackson’s fans, friends, and family. Let’s take a closer look at why what people say on camera and what they say under oath and in the court of law are two different things. Why we need to listen to facts, not allegations. And finally, why we need to give Michael Jackson the rest that he deserves.

Let’s first have a look at accuser Wade Robson, who first appeared in a CNN special back in 1993 as a little boy with his family defending Michael Jackson of child molestation. Wade, his sister Chantal and his mother Joy all three stated they had been in Michael Jackson’s room in and “It’s just a slumber party.” Robson would continue to hang out at the Jackson estate for many years, while forming a romantic relationship with Brandi Jackson. Robson became the go to choreographer for boyband acts in the late 90’s and early 2000’s, working with the likes of pop artists such as NSYNC and Britney Spears. Then in 2002 Robson was cheating on Brandi Jackson with Britney Spears, who was cheating on get this…. Justin Timberlake. If you want proof of this check out Justin Timberlake’s song “Cry me a River” or search for photos of Robson and Spears at an MTV awards show together. Robson rode this wave of fame with a dance reality television show The Wade Robson Project and appearing on the Jimmy Kimmel Show. When the subject of Michael Jackson comes up, Jimmy Kimmel asks “Show me where he touched you?” and once again on television Robson states “Nothing like that ever happened.” Then in the 2005 Michael Jackson child molestation case, the one everyone remembers Michael Jackson getting on top of a car and dancing but everyone forgets he won, Wade Robson took the stand for the Defense (Michael Jackson) put his right hand on a bible, in the court of law, and under oath and stated nothing happened. (he was also cross examined) Wade Robson also attended the Michael Jackson funeral in July of 2009 and praised him. Then in 2011 Robson was hired on to be the choreographer of “Cirque Du Soleil Michael Jackson’s One”. Once again in interviews about the upcoming performance Wade Robson shows nothing but high praise for Michael Jackson, shortly after these interviews the show gets cancelled and the Michael Jackson estate terminates its contract with Robson, and it’s only then Wade Robson stories begin to change. He then goes to numerous media outlets first and then tries to build a civil case (not criminal case because those don’t pay money) only to have it thrown out of court in 2017. When asked why he changed his story and lied under oath Robson states “I said what I understood” He claims he didn’t know it was wrong. What did you think you were in the courtroom for in 2005? Milk and cookies? You are in your mid 30’s and you didn’t know child molestation was a bad thing? Robson to me is just looking for a quick payday, his story flips too much, and he has a grudge from being removed from the “Cirque Du Soleil” presentation which makes his story discreditable.

Now for the second accuser from this shit show documentary, James Safechuck who met Michael Jackson after they were both featured in a 1988 Pepsi commercial. Throughout the documentary Safechuck spins a ring in his fingers like he is Gollum (my precious), and claims Michael Jackson and him exchanged vowels, had a “mock wedding ceremony” and Michael Jackson gave him that wedding ring. Now I don’t know about you, but I don’t have many things from 30 years ago? Let alone a ring from a guy that supposedly molested me as a child. Why would you keep that? Why would you keep that and not the supposedly hand written vowels (actual hard evidence)? And you just came home one day as a child with a wedding ring on your finger and your parents didn’t say anything? In the documentary Safechuck also claims he started to realize what Jackson and him were doing was wrong after attending a 1989 Grammy performance in New York with Jackson. Only one problem the Grammys were in LA that year and Michael Jackson did not perform. Another one of Safechuck’s wild claims is that Jackson gave him the bull whip from Indiana Jones, but that whip has been at UCL Institute of Archaeology since 1990. (to quote Dr.Jones “ It belongs in a museum") Sorry Safechuck, your stories are not adding up. And Just like Wade Robson, Safechuck tells his stories to the media first, then tries to get a civil case (not a criminal) and it was laughed out of the court room.

Finally, another reason I believe Michael Jackson to be innocent, and someone the documentary seems to leave out, is The King of Pop’s ex-wife, and the daughter of The King of Rock n Roll, Lisa Marie Presley. Lisa Marie Presley has always maintained Jackson and her had a normal heterosexual relationship, and that Michael Jackson was falsely accused of child molestation. She has maintained her statements through years of scrutiny by the media. Lisa Marie Presley was married to Michael Jackson from 1994-1996 and spent four years on and off after their divorce in an attempt to reconcile. During that time, she witnessed no foul play and has stated that if she ever did “his ass would be hanging from a tree”. I find Presley credible for one because as a beneficiary to her father’s estate she has no reason to go after Michael Jackson’s money, and in 2016 Lisa Marie Presley filed for divorce against her 4th husband because she found child pornography on his computer. She is not covering up a pedophile ex-husband. Post marriage Presley has had some criticism of Jackson but her stance on his innocence has never changed. Unlike a lot of the accusers, Lisa Marie Presley actually knows what the King of Pop’s penis looks like.

Why do we believe Safechuck and Robson so much? Why do we believe e-media sites, gossip columns, tabloids, and so-called documentaries over courtroom hearings and actual documented facts? I find Macaulay Culkin (The first witness to the stand for the defense in 2005 trail) and Corey Feldman (who claims Hollywood is filled with pedophiles but Jackson is not one of them) so much more credible then Safechuck and Robson. The truth is there are a lot of pro Michael Jackson stories out there, but the media is not shopping for that. HBO and Oprah would much rather run a controversy character assassination piece, then a true documented story. This is the kind of stuff Michael Jackson dealt with for over twenty-five years and we wonder why he is dead. I find irony in Michael Jackson’s song “Billie Jean”, that songs lyrical content goes back to the Jackson 5 days when groupies would claim to have had one of Michael’s older brother’s babies and show up backstage asking for money. Michael Jackson was well aware of the dangers and parallels of stardom. Well aware of wild accusations turning into money. He dealt with it since childhood and is now still dealing with it 10 years after his death. Don’t believe the hype of “Leaving Neverland” and give Michael Jackson the rest the poor innocent man deserves.
