What to do with all that old band merch?

The band just broke up. You just got a voicemail from your ex lead singer, that never wrote shit, talking about “song credits” and about his “lawyer.” You also just found out that your old drummer has been telling your girlfriend that he is in love with her for the past 4 months. It’s a very emotional time for you. Your musical career is at a crossroads, currently you are unable to musically express yourself, and to top it all off you have a box full of T-shirts, a bag full of buttons, 30 beer koozies, 32 pairs of women’s underwear, and over 200 stickers all sitting in your closet with your old band’s name on it as a constant reminder. You could not sell this stuff when the band was together, how are you going to do it now? Your probably not, and your probably not going to want to wear it for a while. Here are a few suggestions on what to do with all that old band merch.

Burn it

Put it all in one big pile, bust out the lighter fluid, and give that band merch the Jedi funeral it deserves.

Turn them into Shop Rags and Towels

Nothing like cleaning up spilled milk with your old band shirt

Donate it

I enjoy seeing local band tees at my local Goodwill.

Arts + Crafts Time

Sticker out that old work bench, turn those 50 old demo cd’s into 50 beer coasters, frame that band shirt or show flier, and hang it in the office so you can always reminisce about that time you opened up for Nirvana in the early 90’s

Give it all to that Superfan

You know, the one that goes to all your shows and runs the unofficial band site.

Save it for the Reunion Show

Because you are not dumb enough to have to order more shirts for the reunion show. Are you?
